At their meeting this month, the Phoenix Seminary board approved several strategic faculty and staff promotions that we are pleased to announce publicly today.
Starting today, Dr. Brian Arnold has been appointed as Academic Dean. Dr. Arnold has served as Assistant Professor of Systematic Theology and Church History since 2015, and he has been the Program Director for the MA (BTS) and ThM since 2018. Prior to joining the Phoenix Seminary faculty, he pastored Smithland First Baptist Church, in Kentucky.
Dr. Arnold brings deep theological conviction and a pastoral heart to his administrative and teaching experience and has been instrumental in starting the ThM Program and in implementing the new curriculum at the Seminary.
Dr. Josh Anderson has also accepted an appointment as Director of the D.Min. program. Our current Director, Dr. Bryan Fergus, will step down at the end of this academic year due to an expansion in his pastoral responsibilities. Dr. Anderson, who holds the MDiv and DMin from Phoenix Seminary, is a gifted administrator and will officially assume this new role on July 1, 2019.
In addition, the board also approved two faculty promotions: Dr. John DelHousaye was promoted to full professor of New Testament and spiritual formation and Dr. Justin Smith was promoted to full professor of counseling and will continue as director of the counseling program. Both professors have contributed significantly to the seminary over the years in classroom teaching, program development, and public speaking and writing.
The board congratulates each of these men and is praying for them as they prepare Phoenix Seminary for a presidential transition later in the year.
