From: The Board of Directors of Phoenix Seminary

Subject: Phoenix Seminary’s Board Promotes Dr. Darryl L. DelHousaye

Dear Friend of Phoenix Seminary,

The Board of Directors is pleased to announce that it has appointed Dr. Darryl L. DelHousaye to serve as Chancellor of Phoenix Seminary and he has graciously accepted the position. You may read his letter of acceptance here.

Dr. DelHousaye has been as a godly servant leader and shepherd to Phoenix Seminary in various ways since its inception in 1987, and has served as President and Professor of Practical Theology for 22 years. In appointing him to the role of Chancellor, we desire to free him up to do what he does best – preach and teach the Word of God on behalf of the Seminary, and shepherd by building and nurturing relationships with Phoenix seminary partners.
Dr. DelHousaye believes the timing is right for him to accept this promotion and position of honor. In his letter he states:

“We are experiencing sustained growth and a sequence of record enrollments in the student body at a time when most seminaries have been in decline. We have successfully attained 10-year accreditation from both of our agencies within the last two years, putting us on a solid path for the future. I have assembled a highly competent and cohesive faculty that is gaining recognition around the world for their efforts. I continue to love and fully support the godly servant leaders who serve on my staff. Financially, God has faithfully met our needs year after year. And this last year, He allowed me to realize the dream of leading Phoenix Seminary to its new permanent campus on Shea Blvd.

My decision to accept the appointment to Chancellor was also made with a desire for God’s best for the needs of the seminary as we look to the future. It’s time for the next generation to step up and take on the daily challenges of seminary leadership, and I am ready to provide all my support to the incoming president who will take the helm of Phoenix Seminary and navigate it into a bright future.”

We are truly privileged to have Dr. DelHousaye agree to serve as Chancellor of Phoenix Seminary. At the same time, we have asked him to continue to serve as President until a competent successor has been called; and he has graciously agreed to do so. This arrangement will allow the Board plenty of time for a thorough search for and transition to his successor.

The Board of Directors has formed and authorized a search committee for assisting us in determining the individual who will follow Dr. DelHousaye as the next president of the seminary. The search committee consists of board members, faculty, staff, students, and alumni. The Board has contracted with CarterBaldwin Executive Search to lead this process.

In addition to your prayers for God’s direction, we would also like to invite you to join the process. You may do this by addressing your recommendations or inquiries to Mr. Bill Peterson, partner with CarterBaldwin (bpeterson@carterbaldwin.com).

The committee has already met and begun the search process. We estimate that it will take four to six months to narrow the candidates to a few finalists. We hope to recommend a candidate to the Board of Directors for their approval in June 2019.

Please join us in honoring Dr. DelHousaye for his ongoing service to Phoenix Seminary as Chancellor, and pray earnestly with us as we seek the Lord’s guidance for his successor.
