Meet Carol Nahm - Dean of Women

Me? Enrolled in Seminary?

To be honest, sometimes I didn’t know why I was sitting in a Phoenix Seminary classroom, taking never-ending notes and writing a plethora of papers. I didn’t have a clear vision of myself in a ministry where all that education could be put to good use. But one thing I never questioned: God had given me a passion for knowing His word and encouraging other women. My motive was, and remains, to serve the Lord with excellence and bring glory to His name–not mine. I learned that I would have to trust Him to fill in the details-in His timing, to see my ministry take shape. For now, I had classes to take, books to read, and papers to write.

Another motivation for committing my life in service to the Lord was a grateful heart. You see, several years prior to seminary, I had walked away from the Lord, and my faith, in an act of rebellion from my fundamentalist church experience. When I returned to Him, I became–and remain an apprentice of grace. His grace continues to amaze me and I’m learning how to give grace and receive it. Anything I do that is good, honorable and a blessing, is because of His indescribable grace.

The President Calls

When Dr. DelHousaye called and asked me to consider the positions, Dean of Women and Executive Director for the Center for Women with Vision, it seemed that God was weaving threads from my past positions in business development, administration, and counseling with life experiences and seminary training to open another door of service. It is exciting to know that God is sovereign and that He has chosen to bless His name through me in the place where I learned so much about Him–Phoenix Seminary.
